Wiggins to depart Fraternity staff

Written by Star & Lamp

Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity announced today the planned transition of Chief Operating Officer Christian Wiggins from the fraternity staff by mid-spring.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – December 9, 2016 – "Christian's impact on Pi Kappa Phi and the interfraternal world over the past decade has been immeasurable," said Chief Executive Officer Mark E. Timmes. "As Christian completes his MBA, this transition is the logical conclusion to his next step as a professional. We appreciate the opportunity to prepare for a timely transition and while the full transition will take place mid-spring, Christian will move from his current role to an executive advisory capacity effective January 1, 2017. We look forward to seeing what Christian will accomplish in the next phase of his career."

Wiggins joined staff in 2006 as the Director of Alumni Services, where he helped to strengthen the organization’s infrastructure supporting alumni chapters and re-energized the fraternity's alumni event strategy. In 2008, Wiggins assumed the role of Assistant Executive Director and began leading the team responsible for the student, alumni and volunteer experience, including chapter support, expansion, operations, risk management, education, conferences, alumni engagement and volunteer support. In 2010 Wiggins was named Chief Operating Officer, including additional responsibility for the organization's technology and communications.

During his tenure, Wiggins supported Pi Kappa Phi's growth, doubling the number of students from 6,000 to 12,000, increasing from 107 chapters to 184 chapters and associate chapters and increasing the fraternity's average chapter size from 47 to 64. Wiggins also assisted or led the organization’s efforts on many key projects, including guiding the fraternity through the execution of the Second Century Vision strategic plan between 2008 and 2014, leading the planning process for the current strategic plan, Uncommon Leadership, co-leading the rebranding process for the fraternity and The Ability Experience, and was instrumental in the development and execution of the largest capital campaign in the Foundation’s history, raising almost $9.3 million over 30 months.

“Christian’s most significant contributions have been his tenacious leadership in helping drive Pi Kappa Phi to new heights; his unparalleled networking skills; and his integrity and commitment to the professional and personal growth of his team,” Timmes added

Wiggins earned a bachelor of science in business administration from Elon University in 2003 and will complete a masters of business administration at the University of South Carolina in April 2017. He has served his alma mater as President of the Charlotte Alumni Chapter, the Young Alumni Council and Elon Alumni Board. He holds leadership roles on a number of other boards including Treasurer of the Association for Fraternity and Sorority Advisors Foundation, Vice Chair of the Coalition for Collegiate Women’s Leadership and as board chair for Campus Pride, the leading national nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization for student leaders and campus groups working to create a safer college environment for LGBTQ students. He has been recognized by his alma mater with a “Top 10 under 10” award and by Connect Market Place as a “Top 40 under 40.”
